Project: King Square – multi storey apartment project in Newmarket, 2008
Background: King square was a large scale, 7 storey project with 138 apartments and 30+ shops on ground floor. It is beside the Newmarket railway station. At the time of construction double glazing was not required by building codes. But the developer was considering quality joinery to improve energy efficiency, functionality and noise reduction.
The solution: Premium Series double glazed PVC-U windows and doors with Low E glass were chosen for high heat insulation.
For better noise reduction, different thicknesses of glass were used for the double glazing units.
Tilt and turn windows were chosen for high performance – ventilation, water tightness, air tightness and easy cleaning.
From bedrooms and lounges to balconies, tilt and turn doors were chosen. These tilt and turn doors can be used for access to balconies and they can also be used as windows for ventilation when they are in tilted position.
Windows and doors for this project were all fabricated in our factory in East Tamaki.
Installation and site glazing were carried out by our installation team. All windows and doors in this project were designed for internal glazing for convenience and easy replacement in the future if needed.
For the 30+ shops, 12mm thick toughened glass was chosen for the shop front. The shop front glazing work was carried out by our installation team in 2009.
