Glass Options

All standard Homerit PVC U windows and doors come double glazed for warmth, comfort, and energy efficiency.

Safety glass

Safety glass — either toughened or laminated — is designed to be safer if broken. Under NZS4223, safety glass is required in certain areas such as bathrooms, stairwells, schools, and in designs like full height glazing or hinged doors.

Obscured Glass

Stippolite
Mistlite
Catheral
Etchlite

Perfect for privacy while still letting in natural light. Popular, cost effective options include:
• Stippolite • Mistlite  • Cathedral
Premium obscured choices such as Etchlite, white laminated, and opalucent laminated glass are also available — often used for stylish entry doors.

Tinted Glass

Tinted glass softens harsh sunlight and reduces UV, visible light, and heat entering your home. Popular colours include grey, green, and blue. It offers extra comfort with only a small cost increase.

Laminated glass:

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that also provides excellent UV and sound reduction.
• Blocks over 90% of UV light
• When used in double glazing, can reduce noise by over 50% A great choice for sun protection and quieter living.

Low E Glass

Low E (Low Emissivity) glass helps keep warmth inside while still allowing plenty of natural light. Its special coating boosts the insulation performance of your double glazing. Different Low E options are available to suit your home’s needs.

Argon Gassed

Instead of standard dry air, double glazing can be filled with argon gas for even better thermal insulation — a simple upgrade that makes a noticeable difference in comfort.

Colonial Bars

Double glazing with colonial bars

Colonial bars can be placed between the two panes of a double glazed unit, giving you the classic colonial look without any extra cleaning. Aluminium colonial bars may slightly reduce the thermal performance of the double glazing.

Cat Flaps

A cat flap can be built directly into a double glazed unit, giving your pet easy access without compromising the look of your window. If you need one, it’s best to request it when placing your order — adding a cat flap later requires replacing the entire double glazed unit, which increases the cost.

Aeromat ventilator

Double glazing with Aeromat on the top

Bring fresh air into your home effortlessly with an Aeromat window ventilator. These slim, discreet units sit at the top of the double glazing and blend seamlessly with the window design. They provide controlled airflow while keeping insects out — perfect for maintaining a healthy indoor environment without opening the window.
